giveaway! teach your toddler yoga

Big news today, friends! I'm hosting my very first giveaway: a copy of my friend Nina Salpeter's excellent book, Teach Your Child Yoga.

I know what you may be thinking: my 18-month-old can sit still for approximately 15 seconds and that's only if she has a banana in one hand and some Nibbly Fingers in the other. How on Earth would she do yoga?

But! The beauty of any sort of toddler movement class or practice is that you're not asking them to power through an hour-long sun salutation series. You go at their pace and you make it a fun family event. Avvie loves mimicking movements that I do, so learning some of these simple poses was basically the sort of play we do anyway. Right when she started walking, she actually started doing downward dog on her own (before she knew it was any sort of actual pose), so there's also movements like that that you can weave into the actual yogic practices.

Now that it's getting pretty chilly out, I'm always looking for indoor activities that won't leave massive finger paint stains on the carpet. Yoga is mess free! Yoga burns off lots of toddler wiggles so that they (sometimes!) sleep longer! Plus, all that other good stuff you already know about, centering your life, improving core strength, finding peace in this garbage planet ...

Anyway, I am thrilled to be hosting this giveaway with Nina, so please leave a comment below and I'll pick one lucky person to receive the book!
